The 1717 is named for our front door: 1717 Cleveland Ave. A small circle of Charlotte people who believe in what's happening inside this house and carry it out into the city. Not members, not staff. Seventeen advocates, each with a numbered seat in the story.
The number doesn't grow. A seat opens only when someone steps down.
01 to 17. The number is yours while you hold it: on the wall in the house, and on the roster below.
There's no application. We're actively interviewing and selecting, one quiet conversation at a time.
Filled as we appoint people. An open seat isn't a vacancy; it's a conversation we haven't finished yet.
They tell the house's story in their own voice: the posts, the photos, the word-of-mouth that no marketing budget can buy. They show up with volunteer hands, co-hosting events and welcoming people in. And when someone in their orbit needs a desk, a community, or a push, they send them our way.
The house gives back in kind: free day passes to work from 1717, swag made only for seventeen people, and access to the people and invite-only events inside the house.
Seats are offered, not applied for. A seat only opens when someone steps down.
Members and residents can nominate from inside the member portal. Day-pass holders can raise a hand there too. Everyone else: come see the house first.
