Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about CLT Startup House.

Pricing & Commitment

What's included in the price?

For residents: a dedicated room, high-speed WiFi, access to all community events and Jam Sessions, coffee/snacks, meeting space for calls, AI skill pack, and the intangible -- a curated community of founders at similar stages. For dedicated desk members: a reserved desk in a shared room plus everything members get. For members: access to all common areas and all four weekly Jam Sessions. All member tiers get 24/7 access. No hidden fees.

Is it worth it compared to working from home?

That depends on what you value. If you just need a desk and WiFi, work from home. If you want to be surrounded by other founders, have spontaneous collisions that spark ideas, and be part of a community that makes you ship faster, that's what you're paying for. Residency is $1,250-1,450/month for a dedicated room (priced per room, for your team). Dedicated desks are $495/month per person for a reserved spot in a shared room. Membership is $295/month per person for access to all common areas and Jam Sessions, with a co-founder bundle available at $450/month total ($225/person) for two co-founders joining together. Day passes are $100.

The Space

Where is the house located?

We're at 1717 Cleveland Avenue, nestled between South End & Dilworth. It's a historic house with real character, near the light rail. Not a glass box.

What are the hours?

All member tiers -- residents, dedicated desk members, and members -- have 24/7 access. It's your workspace, day or night. Day pass holders have full-day access (9am-5pm) for Wednesday Jam Sessions.

Is there parking?

Yes, there's parking on-site. The house is also steps from the light rail between South End & Dilworth, so transit access is easy too.

What about WiFi and amenities?

High-speed WiFi is non-negotiable. We'll also have a stocked kitchen (coffee, snacks), whiteboards, comfortable seating areas, and a setup designed for both heads-down work and collaboration.

Can I take calls and meetings there?

Absolutely. We'll have designated quiet spaces for calls and video meetings so you're not disrupting (or being disrupted by) others.

The Community

How are residents selected?

We're curating for stage, culture add, growth potential, and unique perspectives. We're looking for founders who are actively building, want to be part of a community, and will contribute to the energy of the house. It's not first-come-first-served. It's right-fit-first.

What stage should my startup be?

You should be actively working on something, even if it's early. This isn't for people exploring ideas. It's for people building them.

What if I don't vibe with the other residents?

That's why we're curating carefully. We want everyone to genuinely enjoy being in the space together. If it's not working, we'll figure it out.

Can I bring my co-founder?

Yes. Co-founders from the same startup are welcome. Pricing is per startup, not per person (within reason. We're talking 1-3 people per company, not 10).

What's the culture like?

Collaborative but not forced. We're not running structured programs or mandatory networking events. It's more like: work near other ambitious people, have lunch together sometimes, jam on problems when it makes sense, play games on Friday nights if you want. Low pressure, high energy.

How It's Different

What makes this different from WeWork or other coworking spaces?

Scale and intent. WeWork is hundreds of people in a sanitized office building. This is a few startups in a historic house. You'll know everyone. Everyone's invested in each other's success. It's designed for collision, not isolation.

Why a house instead of an office?

Houses have character. They have kitchens where conversations happen. They have living rooms where ideas get debated. They feel like somewhere you want to be, not somewhere you have to be. The best startup houses in SF and NYC aren't offices. They're homes that happen to be workspaces.

Is this an incubator or accelerator?

No. We're not running a program. We're not taking equity. We're not providing structured curriculum. This is just a space for founders to work alongside other founders with curated and intentional conversations.
